Nigerian singer and songwriter, Augustine 'Tekno' Kelechi has suggested that as a motion on reforming the Nigeria Police Force, the government should look into increasing their salary.
This is coming following the outrage and public protest against police brutality and harassment in the country.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Muhammad disbaned the Special Anti-Robbery Squads, SARS on Sunday, 11th October 2020.
Tekno however believes that police extortion is a result of the stipends they earn and hence, better pay would encourage contentment and a reason to stop extorting civilians. In a post via Twitter, the singer wrote, "Increase police salaries to 250k a month.."
