Hardly do we give credits to music producers for all the work they do behind the scenes. Some of those big tunes we have on heavy rotation would not be possible without inputs and creativity by the beatmakers. They're mostly behind the scenes and perhaps not celebrated as much as they really deserve.
In this post, Jaguda hopes to shine the spotlight on the top 5 music producers of 2018. The listed beatmakers have had a hand in making some of the biggest and most impactful songs this year.

1 Killertunes
The young music producer has had arguably his best year so far since he began his career as a beatmaker. Killertunes has had a hand in some of the biggest songs of 2018. He has proven his worth working with different artistes in the industry and his beats bang. So far, he produced songs like 'Nowo', 'Baba', 'Fake Love', 'Motigbana' etc. Olamide once endorsed him as his producer of the year. In that regards, Shabalistica as he is often referred to has won awards as the producer behind some of the top songs in the country.
2 Fresh VDM
Since he made his appearance in 2017 the DMW music maker has been phenomenal with a long string of songs in his repertoire. In 2018, Fresh hasn't slowed down as he has been responsible for 70 percent of songs coming out from DMW. He is the man behind hits like 'Mind', 'Aje', 'Kpa', 'Nwa Baby' etc. Fresh picked up an awards as the 'Producer of the Year', 'Music Producer of the Year' at the AFRIMA & NEA Awards respectively this year.
3 SperoachBeatz
The growth of this new school beatmaker has been astronomical. SperoachBeatz moved into DMW with his guy Peruzzi and since then the man has already written his name in the industry as a top beatmaker. He earns number 3 spot behind Killertunes and Fresh. He is best known for producing two of the biggest songs in Nigeria 2018, 'Assurance' by Davido and 'Amaka' by 2Baba. He has also produced a handful of tunes for the rest of the DMW boys.
4 NorthBoi
From being unknown to becoming the producer of the adjudged number one song in the country 'Soco'. NorthBoi may not have a long repertoire of songs with production credits to him but the few he has worked on are top notch. He is credited for producing Mayorkun's smash hit 'Posh' and Wizkid X Slimcase 'Gucci Snake'. He copped 'New Discovery Producer' of the year at Beatz Awards with several other nominations.
5 Kel P
At number 5 spot is Peter Kelvin better known as Kel P. The music producer has quite frankly been on the block for a while and has worked with several Nigerian artistes. However, his major break came through working with Burna Boy. He is responsible for making Burna Boy's latest hit singles 'Gbona' and 'On The Low'. Within weeks of release these songs have actually turned sing-along tunes.
Worthy mentions
Spellz: The music producer did not make it to the top 5 list, however, he is still very dope. He produced Tiwa Savage's top tunes like 'Tiwa's Vibe' and 'Lova Lova'.
Pheelz: The YBNL in-house is still stop notch any day anytime. The music maker is responsible for most of the tracks on the 'YBNL Mafia Family' album. He also hold production credit for Mr Eazi's smash hit 'Surrender'.
Rexxie: The very talented music maker has earned his spotlight in a very short time. He has been working with artistes like Lil Kesh, Chinko Ekun and Zlatan etc. He is best known for producing 'Able God' which has been a big rave on the streets. He also produced singles like 'Zanku', 'Flenjo', 'Gbewa'.
